APENNINES, MOUNTAINS OF TUSCANY
Visitors to the Pistoia Apennines can enjoy its well preserved natural environment and breathtaking views. So it was for the great war reporter Tiziano Terzani, who had established his European home in the village of Orsigna. Likewise, iconic actor and philanthropist Paul Newman chose to locate in a WWF reserve near San Marcello its Dynamo Camp, a center of recreational therapy for children with serious illnesses.
The area is a perfect destination for those who love all kinds of outdoor sports: the mountains are rich with trails for walking, mountain biking or horseback riding, as well as rivers and lakes for fishing. During the summer, the Pistoia Mountains offer a rich program of cultural and recreational events such as music and folklore festivals, gastronomic fairs and medieval reenactments.
